There will be NO PRACTICE SWIMMING allowed during the entire event weekend for safety reasons due to high boat traffic. Additionally, sunrise is just before race start and for safety reasons, we cannot allow athletes in the water before sunrise so there will be no pre-race swim warm up.
Athlete Check-In
Athletes can check in on Friday, September 19 (12noon to 6:00pm) and Saturday, September 20 (10:00am to 7:00pm).
- Athletes are encouraged to attend a course briefing during the Expo.
- Athletes must confirm their athlete number on athlete lists.
- Show USAT card or pay insurance and sign waivers.
- Pick up Registration Packet, which will contain race numbers, safety pins, swim cap, etc.
It is MANDATORY that all athletes wear the athlete accreditation wristband AT ALL TIMES, as this will allow them access into all race areas (including Transition Areas). Athletes will not be allowed into these areas without their wristband.
Timing Chips
Timing chips will be distributed at packet pick-up. Please remember to bring this timing chip with you on race day!
Please note that you must wear your timing chip ankle bracelet at all times in order to receive an official race time.
If you do not return your chip and band, you will be responsible for the $35 replacement fee.
Mandatory Bike Check-In
Saturday, September 20 – 12pm to 8pm
ALL BIKES MUST BE CHECKED-IN AT THE TRANSITION AREA BY 8:00PM ON SATURDAY!
There is NO PARKING at Disney's FortWilderness Resort & Campground. If you try to park at Disney's FortWilderness Resort & Campground, you will be redirected to the Magic Kingdom® Parking Lot.
For all athletes staying at Disney's FortWilderness Resort & Campground, you will be able to walk/ride your bike to the transition area. All athletes not staying at one of the above mentioned Resorts or who wish to transport themselves will be REQUIRED to park at the Magic Kingdom®main parking lot. From there, athletes will need to walk/ride their bikes to the transition area which is approximately 1.5 miles from the Magic Kingdom® Parking Lot. It is STRONGLY ENCOURAGED that spectators utilize the shuttles while the athletes walk/ride their bikes to the transition area. Shuttles will be provided back to the above mentioned Resorts and the Magic Kingdom® Parking Lot.
PLEASE NOTE:
- Bicycles are NOT ALLOWED on WALT DISNEY WORLD® Resort Buses, Watercraft, and Monorails.
- Bicycles will ONLY be allowed on Event Shuttles.
There will be NO bike check in allowed on Race Morning. Once your bike has been checked into the Transition Area, you cannot remove the bike until after the start of the race. For protection against the elements, you may cover your bike seat and computer, but not your entire bicycle. You will have access to your bike on race morning to make final mechanical adjustments and to inflate the tires, but the bike cannot leave the transition area. Bike mechanics will be available on race morning should you need assistance. DO NOT OVER INFLATE YOUR TIRES! It is best to inflate your tires on race morning to avoid a heat related blowout. Security will be provided overnight at the Transition Area.
Awards Ceremony
All athletes will receive a finishers’ medal immediately after crossing the Finish Line.
The awards ceremony will take place at 12:00 noon in Disney's FortWilderness Resort & Campground BBQ Pavilion. (Same location as packet pickup).

USA TRIATHLON
The Athletes for a Cure Triathlon is a USAT sanctioned event. You must have a current USAT membership card to participate in the event. If you are not a current USAT member, you will be required to purchase a one-day membership for $10 at packet pickup. You MUST show your USAT membership card at packet pickup or you will have to purchase the one-day membership.

Race Numbers
Bike: Bike frame and helmet numbers will be included in your race packet. The number must be attached to your bike and be visible from both sides before you will be allowed to bring your bike into the transition area. There will also be a smaller self-adhesive number in the packet. This number should be placed on the front of your bike helmet.
Run: Each participant will receive a race number in their race packet and it is to be worn on the front of your running shirt or shorts. The number MUST be visible when you start the run. Do not cut, fold, or alter your race number in any way.
Swim Caps
Your official swim cap will be provided in your race packet. This cap is provided for your safety during the swim and must be worn during the entire swim. You will not be allowed in the swim staging area without it.
You must start in your designated swim wave. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Bike Inspection
It is up to each individual athlete to make sure his or her bike is in safe and proper working order. South Lake Bicycles will have mechanics on site during packet pickup to assist with any needed repairs.
Dropping Out
If you drop out of the race for any reason, it is imperative that you notify a Race Official or Race Staff immediately and return your ChampionChip to them or the timing tent located next to the finish line.
Unsportsmanlike Conduct
Unsportsmanlike conduct during any portion of the race will not be tolerated and will result in an immediate disqualification.
Bike Shipping
South Lake Bicycles is the official Bike Shop of the Athletes for a Cure Triathlon. South Lake can handle all of your bike shipment needs and will also be on site for any necessary repairs, tune-ups, etc. They will be located next to packet pickup in the Expo area.

Medical
The main medical tent will be located at the finish line near Disney's FortWilderness Resort & Campground BBQ Pavilion. There will also be a Medical Tent located inside the main Transition area. There will be additional medical care at/on the swim, bike and run courses.
Spectators needing to locate an athlete during or after the race should inquire at the Information Tent.
Lost & Found
During the Event Weekend, Lost & Found will be located in the Information Tent located next the Event Shuttle Drop Off/Pick Up area.
After the race, all items not claimed at Lost & Found will be taken to Disney's FortWilderness Resort & Campground Front Desk.Race Photography

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 19: All athletes and spectators attending the Expo on Friday that are staying at Disney's FortWilderness Resort & Campground can simply walk to the Expo. If you are not staying at one of the above Resorts and wish to attend the Expo on Friday, you will be REQUIRED to park in the Magic Kingdom® Parking Lot (Grumpy & Dopey) and catch an Event Shuttle to the Expo. There will be Athlete for a Cure Triathlon signage directing athletes to the Shuttles. Shuttles will be running continuously from 10:30am – 6:30pm. A shuttle will also be provided to return you to the Magic Kingdom® Parking area. There will be NO PARKING at the Disney's FortWilderness Resort & Campground. If you try to park at the Campgrounds, you will be redirected to park at the Magic Kingdom®.
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 20: All athletes and spectators attending the Expo on Saturday that are staying at Disney's FortWilderness Resort & Campground can simply walk to the Expo. If you are not staying at one of the above Resorts and wish to attend the Expo on Saturday, you will be REQUIRED to park in the Magic Kingdom® Parking Lot (Grumpy & Dopey) and catch an Event Shuttle to the Expo. There will be Athletes for a Cure Triathlon signage directing athletes to the Shuttles. Shuttles will be running continuously from 6:30am – 8:30pm. A shuttle will also be provided to return you to the Magic Kingdom® Parking area. There will be NO PARKING at Disney's FortWilderness Resort & Campground. If you try to park at the Campgrounds, you will be redirected to park at the Magic Kingdom®.
Saturday is the MANDATORY bike check-in for all athletes. We encourage athletes to ride their bikes from the parking lot to the race site (1.5 miles). Those without bikes can use the Shuttle. Shuttles will be running continuously for your return trip to the Magic Kingdom® parking lot. Please see the map for how to get your bike to the Transition area which will be located at Disney's FortWilderness Resort & Campground.
Race Day -- Athlete and Spectator Parking:
On Sunday, September 21, all Athletes and Spectators will park in the designated parking lot at the Magic Kingdom® (Grumpy and Dopey). There will be NO RACE DAY PARKING available at Disney's FortWilderness Resort & Campground and no early WALT DISNEY WORLD® Resort Transportation services available to the guests (including Monorail, Buses and/or Ferries) other than the Event Shuttles/Buses. These shuttles will be provided from 4:30am until 3:30pm. If you try to park at the Campgrounds, you will be redirected to park at the Magic Kingdom®. Once parked at the Magic Kingdom® Parking lot, you will catch a shuttle that will transport you to the transition/start area located inside Disney's FortWilderness Resort & Campground.
If you are staying at Disney's FortWilderness Resort & Campground, you will simply walk to the transition/start area.
Race Day – Shuttle/Bus Service:
There will be Event Shuttle service between Disney's FortWilderness Resort & Campground and the Magic Kingdom® Dopey and Grumpy Parking lot for all Athletes and Spectators. These shuttles will be provided from 4:30am until 3:30pm and will run continuously.
After the race, athletes staying at Disney's FortWilderness Resort & Campground, they are REQUIRED to walk/ride their bikes back to their Resort.
For all athletes that parked in the Magic Kingdom® Parking Lot, they will be REQUIRED to walk/ride their bike the 1.5 miles back to the Parking Lot.
Spectators will utilize the same Shuttle Service as athletes.

Reclaiming Bike and Gear
Bikes cannot be removed from the Transition area until all bikes have returned from the bike course (approximately 11:30am). Only athletes with their wristband still affixed to their wrist will be permitted in the Transition area.
Please note that all bikes and gear must be reclaimed from Transition by 2:00pm on Sunday.
Resort Check-Out
Please be advised that the standard check-out time for all WALT DISNEY WORLD® Resort properties is 11:00am. Late check-outs are based on Resort availability and are NOT GUARANTEED.
Results
Race results will be posted in the BBQ Pavilion (Athlete refreshment area) continuously during the finish of the race. Please note that the results are not official until all USAT Penalties have been assessed. If you have any questions concerning the results, please see the timing officials in the tent adjacent to the finish line. Complete results will be posted at www.afactri.com on Monday, September 22nd.
