Race – Raise Funds – Win Great Prizes!
Entry in the Athletes for a Cure Division automatically registers you as a fundraiser with the AFAC program and will provide you with the opportunity to raise funds to “buy down” your finish time for the 2008 AFAC Triathlon.
The participant with the lowest overall finish time in the Division wins.
The inaugural Athletes for a Cure Triathlon will take place at WALT DISNEY WORLD® Resort near Orlando, Florida on September 21, 2008, to raise funds for the Prostate Cancer Foundation. $25.00 of each athlete’s entry fee will go directly to the Prostate Cancer Foundation. All athletes will also have the opportunity to win awards ranging from 2XU race uniforms to a 7 day Cruise by racing in the special Fundraising Division where the race goes to the biggest heart, not the fastest legs.
Plan on bringing the family down to WALT DISNEY WORLD® Resort in September for a great family vacation, a opportunity to race a great event.
Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground will be the host site of the Athletes for a Cure Triathlon and the race will take place on Sunday, September 21, 2008. This international distance triathlon will feature a 1.5 K swim (.9 miles) a 40 K bike (24.8 miles) and a 10 K run. (6.2 miles)
Every dollar that you raise for Athletes for a Cure by midnight September 19, 2008 will be counted as 1 minute off of your finish time to determine your Fundraising Division score. There will be awards for both male and female division winners.
Example:
Actual Finish Time = 2:10:00 (130 minutes)
Total Funds Raised = $1000
AFAC Fundraising Division Score = -870
(see additional rules)
First Place Prize: Seven (7) day Cruise, all expenses paid (see rules)
Second Place Prize: Javelin Athletes for a Cure frame ($3,000 value)
Third Place Prize: Four (4) hours of online coaching with Simon Lessing
