Swim Time
6:45am – Swim starts will be conducted in waves of 3-5 minute increments. Divisions and Age Groups have identified waves.
Course Cut-Off Times
There are three (3) designated cut-off times that athletes must meet in order to continue the race. The Swim cut-off is 1 hour and 15 minutes after the start of the last swim wave (approximately 8:30am). Swimmers who do not meet this cut-off time will not be allowed to start the bike segment. The Bike cut-off is at 11:00am (2 1/2 hours after swim cut-off). Bikers who do not meet this cut-off time will not be able to start the run. Runners will need to have started their second loop of the run course by 12:00noon. After that time, all runners will be directed to the Finish Line. The Run course officially closes at 1:30pm (5 hours after swim cut-off). At that time all athletes still on the course will be transported to the finish line area.
Important Note: If an athlete does not meet any of the cut-off times, they will be asked to return their ChampionChip and will not be allowed to continue with the race..

Your official swim cap will be provided in your race packet. This cap is provided for your safety during the swim and must be worn during the entire swim. You will not be allowed in the swim staging area without it.
Race Divisions and Wave Starts
The Athletes for a Cure Triathlon will utilize a wave start. Waves are determined by the number of athletes in each age division (including swim cap colors assigned).
Wave starts are subject to change
Wave starts and swim cap colors will be given out during Athlete Registration.
Per USA Triathlon Rules, we will be utilizing the age up rule: All age group athletes must participate and compete in the age group division corresponding to the athlete’s age on December 31 of the year of the event.
For Example: If you are 34 on the day of the race, but turn 35 before December 31, 2008, you will be placed in the 35 year old age group. If you are 34 on race day and turn 35 after December 31, 2008, you will be placed in the 34 year old age group.
You must start in your designated swim wave. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Practice Swim
There will be NO PRACTICE SWIMMING allowed throughout the entire event weekend.
Disney will not allow athletes to swim before the race as they do not have lifeguards on this beach and boat traffic is VERY heavy. The sun comes up at 6:40 AM and the race starts at 6:45 AM, so athletes will not be allowed to swim before the event for safety reasons.
